Hi 👋🏾 We're The Sensitive Type.


We create unique, considerate, natural and effective skincare products aligned with the values of ethically, socially and environmentally conscious customers.

Our products are designed for sensitive skin but can be used on all skin types. We’ve had sensitive skin since we were 12 and we’ve tried it all. We’ve been to many dermatologists, read endless publications and tried every product we could get our hands on. We know it’s a frustrating experience (not to mention expensive). We didn’t find anything that worked well, so we decided to do it ourselves. We make our products for ourselves, so you know they actually work!

We are a female founded and led Australian small business. All of our products are made in Australia, responsibly sourced, vegan, cruelty free, pregnancy safe, inclusive and contain only gentle and effective ingredients.

Our Values

Sustainably Focused

Sustainability is at the centre of our ethos. Our products are contained in glass and aluminium, as these materials are infinitely recyclable. Our product boxes and packaging are made of compostable and recyclable cardboard and printed using natural soy-based inks.

We are also a proud member of One Percent for the Planet – a
global network of certified and openly accountable businesses who give at least 1% of revenue to environmental causes.

We Give Back

In addition to being a member of One Percent for the Planet, The Sensitive Type is the first beauty company to donate a portion of each sale to a charity chosen by customers. We believe that every business should have a positive impact on the community it operates in.

When placing an order, customers can choose for a portion of profits to go to charities focussed on supporting Australia’s First Peoples, the reforestation of Australia’s bushland or unhoused Australians. We hope to expand the number of charities and causes we support as our business grows.

Good for Skin

It is estimated that 70% of the people on earth have sensitive or sensitised skin. Despite this, the majority of products on the market contain ingredients that aren't great for sensitive, sensitised, rosacea, eczema and dermatitis prone skin.

The Sensitive Type only uses ingredients that are gentle and effective for sensitive skin and do not contain ingredients such as fragrances and harsh alcohols which can irritate skin prone to eczema, rosacea, dermatitis and other sensitivities.

We do not engage in ‘clean-washing’ through the use of adjectives such as 'non-toxic', ‘natural’ and ‘clean’ which are undefined and potentially misleading. We believe ineducation, transparency and science over fear-mongering and mislabelling –which is why we explain the purpose of each ingredient used in our products and why we avoid other commonly used ingredients.

Transparent

We are committed to transparency in all aspects of our business. 

We believe that transparency in the beauty industry is not common enough. As an industry we need to support our customers to make better decisions, by having the information they need readily, available at all times. 

As part of our commitment to transparency we share our entire ingredients list, including why each ingredient is used and where it comes from, and the list of ingredients we don’t use. By having information readily available for our customers, we want to empower you to make better decisions.
