They sure are! All of our products are vegan and cruelty free. Our products are not tested on animals and we do not work with manufacturers that test on animals either. We believe that the future of beauty should do no harm to others, including our non-human friends!

As our name suggests, our products are made for sensitive skin which makes our products suitable for all skin types. That means if you have young, mature, dry, acne prone, oily or combination skin you can use our products. 

Having said this, we don’t recommend using our products if you have fur, scales or feathers. We apologise for any inconvenience. 

You sure can! Our brand was founded specifically for sensitive, eczema and dermatitis prone skin. All our products are fragrance free and all ingredients in our products are designed to calm, hydrate and soothe all skin. 

They sure are, all of our products are free of any harmful ingredients for soon to be mums or breastfeeding mums (including retinols, BHA’s and essential oils). If you have any questions though, feel free to reach out to our team who can answer any additional questions you may have. 

The phrases ‘clean’, ‘non-toxic’ and ‘natural’ are unregulated terms without a clear industry definition. We believe that these marketing phrases are often used to misinform and fear-monger by scaring customers about ingredients. 

Here at The Sensitive Type we only produce products that are good for skin and effective. We also commit to being transparent with our customers, and oversharing when it comes to our ingredients list. We are strict about the ingredients we use, you can find a list of all the ingredients we use here and those we don’t here (warning it’s a long list).  

We do however meet the ‘clean beauty’ standards set by businesses like Sephora and The Detox Market. 

While we do not use many common allergens in our products, each person's allergies are individual to them making it impossible to cater for every allergy. We do not use parabens in any of our products.

We never add fragrance to our products as it can irritate sensitive skin. Any “fragrance” you can smell in our products is the natural result of the ingredients themselves. 

All of our products have a shelf life of 12 months (1 year) from the date you open the product. Unopened products have a shelf life of 24 months, if they are kept in a cool and dry place. 

In order to be more sustainable and to not contribute to product wastage, we do not produce more stock than we need. Product unavailability can sometimes happen and we’re sorry if the product you wanted to buy is sold out, but never fear, our waitlist is here. On the product page you will see a ‘Join the Waitlist’ button where the ‘Buy Now’ button usually is. Simply pop your email into the input field and we will let you know as soon as it is back in stock (and even make sure you get first dibs). 

Palm oil is on our list of ingredients we don't use. Palm oil has a devastating impact on the environment in which it is farmed. To find out what other ingredients we do and don’t use, check out our Ingredients page here.

Our products do not contain any nuts or gluten, for our full ingredients list for each product please check out each individual product page. 

As a business we aim to be as sustainably focused as possible. We have a ban on single use plastics and avoid plastic where possible as a business.

When it comes to what you can recycle from our products, this helpful infographic to show you how to dispose of each element you receive. 

We are proud that nearly all of our packaging is recyclable, compostable and/or reusable. See below a handy guide on how to recycle, compost or reuse all the elements we send you:

• Shipping box: 100% Recyclable. 

Our shipping boxes, packing tape, packaging filler and shipping labels are all recyclable and compostable. We do recommend reusing our shipping boxes if possible (*hint* it would be perfect to post that pair of jeans you just sold on Depop). If you chose to compost we recommend cutting the box into smaller pieces before you pop it in your compost bin. 

• Product Box: 100% Recyclable. 

Our product boxes are made of 100% recycled cardboard and soy based ink, meaning they can be recycled or composted at home. We do recommend reusing the box as a place to hide treats for your pet before you recycle or compost, simply pop some dog treats in it, close it up and give it to your four-legged friend. 

• Bottle: 95% Recyclable. 

Our bottles themselves are made of 100% recycled glass and are 100% recyclable. The glass we use can be infinitely recycled, as it is clear in colour. You can either reuse the bottle for something else (perhaps a little flower vase or a pot for your watercolour painting) or you can recycle it. The top of our bottle is made of aluminium and the pump mechanism inside is made of HDPE plastic which can also be recycled if you decide to not reuse the bottle. The only element of the bottles that isn’t recyclable is our Cloud Tonic rubber topper, if you don’t decide to reuse this element, you can either send it back to us or pop it in your normal waste.
